Controversial film will screen in Waterloo

A controversial film is making its way to a screen in Waterloo.

“Mostly Sunny” is a film based on the life journey of Sunny Leone, who went from the adult film industry to a Bollywood star.

Ballinran Entertainment’s Executive Producer, Craig Thompson says it is an unexpected, unlikely, and intriguing story.

“It’s remarkable that a woman who grew up in Southern Ontario, in an immigrant household, an Indian household, was able to get into the adult film industry and not only that, transform herself into a legitimate star in the Bollywood film industry.”

It has been viewed at the Toronto International Film Festival, and several other festivals. It will also be released worldwide by iTunes, and will be released on Netflix outside of Canada in April. The Movie Network will carry the film in April as well.

Thompson also told 570 News that it’s become somewhat controversial because of the star herself. She was once supportive of the development and release of the film, but after making leaps in her career, she no longer wants anything to do with the documentary, saying it lingers on her past.

The screening in Waterloo will take place tonight at 9 pm, at the Original Princess Cinema.
