New app wants you to put down your phone, no seriously

There is a new app for your smart phone with a bit of a confusing message.

The app is called “Put Your Phone Down” and it asks the user to put down their phone and not touch it for as long as possible.

It seems counter-intuitive, but according to its developers ‘REDspace’ out of Nova Scotia– sometimes we need a break.

Wes Gould is a partner and COO at REDspace and says there can be too much of a good thing,

“We are uniquely suited to know how much time people spend on their devices and we see that it can be detrimental, too much of a good thing even a great thing when you see all the digital material out there it can be too much, so we thought this year the best thing we can give people back is time. ”

The app is simple, you just hit go and as the title suggests– put down your phone. The timer stops when you touch it and you can post your score and share with friends.

Gould says the average time is around 10 minutes, but the more the game is played the more scores improved.

“Put Down The Phone” is available on iPhone and Android devices and at putyourphonedownapp.com
