Special weather statement lifted

Environment Canada has now issued a special weather statement for Waterloo Region, Guelph and our surrounding areas.

The national weather agency says we should expect a wild and windy evening Tuesday as a strong cold front moves in.

Southwesterly wind gusts of 50 to 80 km/h are expected to develop later tonight as the front moves through, with gusts of up to 90 km/h expected in some areas.

Environment Canada says the wind will die down by Wednesday morning, but warn that the weather could cause power outages and severely damage buildings and vehicles.
