Rangers take on OHL’s top team, Sault Ste. Marie, for the first time this season

Two high-powered offences go head-to-head at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Friday night.

The Kitchener Rangers will battle the West Division-leading Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds for the first time in the 2016/17 campaign.

The Hounds feature size, skill, and balanced scoring, and while the Rangers will likely be without one of their leading scorers Jeremy Bracco in Friday’s game, Sault Ste. Marie has cruised to their 27 wins without their top point man from last season, Blake Speers.

The New Jersey Devils 3rd rounder and Greyhounds Captain broke his wrist in his first game back in the OHL after a short stint with the big club.

Despite the injury, he was named to Team Canada’s World Junior roster and was deemed healthy enough to play in the tournament.

The Rangers, meantime, are coming off two straight wins over Erie and Guelph, and have their work cut out for them over the next week.

After Friday night’s matchup, the team will head out on a three game road trip to battle Owen Sound, Erie and Windsor.
