December 2016, our snowiest in eight years

You weren’t imagining it – December was a snowy month: the snowiest December since 2008.

The University of Waterloo Weather Station’s monthly breakdown shows we received 73 centimetres of snow last month, which is almost double the December average and the most we’ve received that month since we got just under a metre of snow in December 2008.

Factoring in the rain, total precipitation was also above average.

It was also colder than normal, albeit only slightly – by just under one degree.

The warmest day last month was slightly under nine degrees, while the coldest temperature recorded was around minus 15.
