Kitchener RIDE Check leads to drug seizure

Regional Police are out with a reminder following an incident at a RIDE check in Kitchener last night.

One vehicle driven by a 20 year-old male, was coming through the RIDE check at King Street East at the 401 around 9 when an officer noticed drug paraphernalia in the back seat, as well as a strong odor of marihuana coming from the car.

A small amount of weed and a large collection of drug accessories were seized.

Police checked the sobriety of the drive and there was no indication of recent drug use or impairment.

Police would like to remind the public that marihuana is a controlled substance and having it in your possession, no matter the amount, can lead to criminal charges or impairment while behind the wheel.
