OPP have some tips if you’re hitting the road over the holidays

Even Santa needs some help navigating safely and the OPP want you to get where you need to go without incident.
Constable Lauren Ball with Cambridge OPP says having your vehicle prepared before your trip and adjusting your driving can make a big difference.
“Topping up your windshield washer fluid, having winter tires and leaving extra space because stopping distance is more than double on snow or ice covered roads.”
Traveling with an emergency kit is also a great idea, Ball adds.
Clearing off your car properly is also critical to a safe drive, for not only you but for other motorists on the road.
“It can cause significant damage to other vehicles and dangerous conditions on roadways.”
Ball adds that if you are strapping anything on to your vehicle or pulling a trailer, to make sure everything is properly secure so that it doesn’t come dislodged which could cause a collision.
