Police search for suspect after woman’s purse stolen while shopping in Guelph

Police are reminding shoppers to keep an eye on their belongings after a woman’s purse was stolen while she was grocery shopping in Guelph.

Police say it happened Wednesday afternoon at a grocery store on Eramosa Road.

The woman had her purse sitting in her shopping cart and briefly stepped away to grab something off the shelves.

Within moments, the woman’s purse was snatched from the cart, and all of her money was stolen.

The male suspect fled the scene before police arrived– he’s described as white, thin and around 5 feet tall.

Guelph Police say they’re urging shoppers that carry purses to not put them in shopping carts, but keep them on their shoulder.
