Huron Heights Secondary School business students hold silent auction for local girl

Huron Heights Secondary School is helping a local young woman and her family pay off medical bills this holiday season.

The senior business class is holding a Silent Charity Auction tonight (Dec 8), for the school’s ninth year.

Items will be auctioned off until 9 pm tonight in the library of the school, with all proceeds going to the Reichert family.

Mariah Reichert, 22, has been battling lyme disease for 12 years, resulting in a large amount of medical bills.

Tina Langdon, who is a business teacher at Huron Heights, says, “Mariah in this case being 22, and my students being 17, 18 year old students, they really connected with her.”

Every year, a new family is chosen, and the connection made it easy for the class to decide to donate to the Reichert family.

“We had her come in, visit the class and share her story,” said Langdon.

“So as a result, the students have worked really hard gathering donations, raising money and volunteering their time just for this family.”

If you’re looking for a two-day getaway, makeup or Kitchener Rangers tickets – auction ends at 9 pm.
