Liberals not worried about voter backlash due to potential road tolls

By The Canadian Press

Ontario Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca says the Liberals aren’t worried about a voter backlash in the next election if they end up approving road tolls in Toronto.

Toronto Mayor John Tory has suggested having tolls for two major highways leading into the city, and Del Duca says the province will carefully review any proposal that has city council support.

P-C Leader Patrick Brown says the Liberals will pay a political price if they approve the tolls, adding he would rescind provincial approval if his party wins the next election.

The N-D-P also oppose road tolls, saying they will just make life more unaffordable for many people.
