Rangers bounce back with overtime win in Ottawa

A quick turnaround may have been just what the Rangers needed.

The Kitchener Rangers needed overtime for a second straight day to decide their fate, and this time, they came out on top.

After a controversial loss Friday night in Kingston, the Rangers rebounded and beat the Ottawa 67’s 5-4 in overtime Saturday afternoon.

Connor Bunnaman picked up his second career hat trick and tells us the secret to his recent success.

“Jeremy Bracco,” says Bunnaman, “whenever I’m on the ice with him, he always finds my stick it’s easy to play with a guy like that so I just try and find my way to the net.”

Adam Mascherin scored the overtime winner, one of two goals on the night for the Rangers forward.

Luke Opilka picked up his third win of the season, making 24 saves.

“Not the start I wanted and I kind of felt I was letting the boys down but I just have to battle back,” said Opilka after the game.

Kitchener returns to the ice Wednesday night for the annual Teddy Bear Toss game against Mississauga.
