Laurier hosts McMaster in first home playoff game since 2010

The Golden Hawks are coming into this match up as the number five nationally ranked team and McMaster is sitting right behind them at number seven.

Laurier is undefeated at home this year and they are riding a three-game win streak.

McMaster lost their final game of the year against Western by just a rouge.

That all goes out the window Saturday afternoon.

Head Coach of the Golden Hawks Michael Faulds tells us, McMaster is a tough squad to prepare for.

“McMaster is still very explosive but they’re still going to try and pound the rock with Chris Pezzetta. They are a little more balanced than they were in previous years and obviously they have a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, a lot of big name players, a lot of all-stars so we are going to have to play our best football.”

Wide receiver Kurleigh Gittens Jr. tells us he expects University Stadium to be pumped.

“It’s a big game, the semi-finals, one game before the Yates Cup Final, so I expect everyone to be excited.”

The Golden Hawks haven’t hosted a home playoff game since 2010 and they ended up winning that one against the Guelph Gryphons.

Faulds tells says he’s anxious to see what his team will bring.

“I’m really pleased with our staff and the game plans we’ve put in with offense, defense and special teams,” says Faulds, “we’re going to enjoy the moment, obviously, that three hours is going to go by quickly, but the process to get here has been really good.”
