Toronto police seize 13 live hand grenades from east-end house

Toronto police seized 13 live hand grenades and a hand gun from an east-end house on Wednesday night.

A man in his 30s is facing a number of charges, including possession of an explosive substance and possession of firearms.

The items were seized from a house on Canlish Road, near Birchmount Road and Lawrence Avenue, just after 9 p.m.

Homes in the neighbourhood were evacuated as a precaution.

Nobody was injured.

Police will be disposing of the grenades with the Canadian Armed Forces.
