Calgary dad arrested in Bowmanville, accused of abducting six kids

By News Staff

Durham police have arrested a Calgary man in Bowmanville after his six children were reported missing on Tuesday.

Police said the man is 49 years old, but they are not releasing his name to protect the identity of his children.

The youngest child is 18 months old, police said. The oldest is 11.

He allegedly abducted them from their Calgary home.

The Durham Children’s Aid Society brought the six children to a safe location before their father was arrested, police said.

The man was arrested near Waverly and Baseline roads around 4:50 p.m. on Wednesday. Police said they noticed the green SUV with an Alberta licence plate, which they say matched the plate from a Canada-wide warrant.

He is being held for a bail hearing.
