Golden Hawks men’s football improve playoff positioning with win over Guelph

Over 4,000 elementary students packed University Stadium Friday morning to see the Laurier Golden Hawks defeat the defending Yates Cup Champions, Guelph Gryphons, 27-25.
The Golden Hawks have now improved their season record to 6-1 and are enjoying their best season since 2009.
Quarterback Michael Knevel, went 15-for-27 throwing for 222 yards for one touchdown and one interception.
Running back Levondre Gordon opened the scoring with a 71-yard run into the endzone. He finished the day with 12 carries and 193 yards rushing and one touchdown.
Knevel threw a beautiful 94 yard pass to receiver Brendan McCracken in the second quarter for a touchdown.
Laurier only managed to score three points in the fourth quarter, while the Guelph Gryphons tried storming back into this one but fell short.
