15 buildings in Waterloo Region identified as having asbestos

The government of Canada has released a list of buildings in the country that have asbestos.
Asbestos is a harmful mineral that used to be used in building construction, as it was good for fire resistance and insulation.
However it was discovered that although it is harmless when undisturbed, when it is damaged it becomes highly toxic, causing breathing issues, asbestosis and more serious health problems.
Although asbestos has seen been banned, it can still be found in many buildings across the country, with 15 of those being in Waterloo Region.
