‘Doors Open Waterloo Region’ gets underway Saturday

48 sites throughout our region will let you explore their buildings this Saturday as part of the ‘Doors Open Waterloo Region’ initiative.

Since 2003, ‘Doors Open Waterloo Region’ has been giving the public access to over 250 sites.

Karl Kessler is an organizer with Doors Open WR and says the event features something for everyone.

“We have really small places to very big places– we try to have something to suit everyone’s taste. We have everything from heritage buildings, manufacturing places and local tech companies.”

19 tech companies like Google, Spotify Plus, and Bridgit will open their doors to the wacky and wonderful world of open-space concepts with slides and ping pong tables.

“These places are a treat to visit. We tried to get a good cross-sampling of the tech firms throughout our region, so there will be lots of different kinds of tech sites to see.”

More than 100,000 people have visited the hundreds of sites in our region since this initiative began back in 2003.

‘Doors Open Waterloo Region’ kicks off Saturday, September 17th and runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at various locations.
