Waterloo Region is receiving just under $150,000 in funding to help survivors of domestic violence.
Funding comes from the Survivors of Domestic Violence Portable Housing Benefit Pilot program.
The provincial and federal governments say they are investing more than $20 million over the next two years, helping 1,000 survivors of domestic violence each year.
In the new program, survivors of domestic violence will have the option to receive a portable housing benefit to help find a home in their community.
Kathryn McGarry, MPP for Cambridge says “by investing in this important program, our government is supporting survivors of domestic violence in moving past these difficult times to quickly finding new housing options in our community.”
