UW receives $91-million in funding; $76-million for quantum research

A big boost for the University of Waterloo as Federal Science Minister Kirsty Duncan announced more than $76-million in funding will be given to the school for Transformative Quantum Technologies.

The funding will assist the University’s initiative which combines theoretical and experimental physics, computer science and engineering to advance the development of quantum technologies in the areas of medicine, navigation, sensing and the development of new materials.

The University will receive a total of $91-million from the government, which is part of a $900-million investment which will divided between 13 post-secondary institutions through the Canada First Research Excellence Fund.
