Flooding caused in some areas due to Thursday’s storm

It will be a day of cleaning up for some residents and businesses in Waterloo Region.

This follows a wild storm that rolled through the area yesterday afternoon.

In its wake: significant flooding in some locales.

The Stanley Park area of Kitchener received 50 millimetres or two inches of rain in just one hour.

The summer storm also resulted in flooding in the parking lot at Fairview Park Mall, where some shoppers actually took off their shoes and waded through the water to get to their vehicles.

The 570 Newsroom also received calls from residents reporting flooded basements.

The wicked weather appears to have passed – at least for today.

We are expecting sunny skies and more seasonal temperatures, but it will remain on the muggy side.
