29 Olympians will be at Manulife LPGA Classic

The final field has been announced ahead of next week’s Manulife LPGA Classic at Whistle Bear Golf Club in Cambridge.

The 2016 tourney will feature 29 Olympians. That list includes world number one Lydia Ko, who won silver at the Rio Olympics, Canadians Brooke Henderson and Alena Sharp, as well as Stacy Lewis, Suzann Pettersen, Sandra Gal and Charley Hull.

“These golfers made history less than 10 days ago when they represented their sport and their countries at the Olympics,” said Milaina Wright, Tournament Director. “They captured our attention on television and we’re thrilled to welcome them to Whistle Bear next week.”

11 Canucks will also tee it up, which will be the largest ever Canadian field for the tournament.

In addition to Henderson and Sharp – Selina Costabile, Maddie Szeryk, Josée Doyon, Jennifer Ha and Lorie Kane have been added.

Meantime, Paula Creamer and Michelle Wie will make their debut at Whistle Bear, both missed the 2015 tournament.

Round 1 starts on Thursday morning.
