Baycats take commanding lead in IBL semi-final series

The Kitchener Panthers tried their luck with game one starter Ian Rendon to try and cool down Barrie’s bats Thursday night at Jack Couch Park.

The Cats had other plans in the second inning, Kyle Nichols hit a two run home run to give the Baycats their first lead of the game.

Justin Interisano would counter with a home run of his own in the bottom half.

Jordan Castaldo would do more damage in the third inning with another long shot in this series for the Cats.

Panthers Mike Glinka homered in the fifth and cut into the Cats lead by three but that would be as close as they would come.

Ian Rendon only last 4.1 innings, giving up six runs on four hits, walking four and striking out five.

Kitchener drops this one 10-5 and trails the best-seven-semi-final series, 3-0.

The Panthers will have to try and stay alive against the IBL defending champions.

Game four is Saturday night at Coates Stadium in Barrie. First pitch at 7 p.m.
