Harmony Lunch in Uptown Waterloo up for sale after 86 years

The iconic restaurant at 90 King Street North in Uptown Waterloo has been serving up diner-style meals since 1930, but due to a slow-down in business and age catching up to owner Bruce Marks, the place for pork patties and fried onions will be for sale in September.

On September 6th, Harmony Lunch will open it’s doors to buyers.

The asking price is $1.4 million.

The Marks have owned and operated the diner since Bruce’s father Harry opened up the place in 1930 serving sliders from a pick-up window.

Since then, the restaurant has expanded to accompany locals and tourists.

60’s decor, swivel stools, and a working jukebox are among the many features that make the Harmony Lunch what it is.

The family is hoping that whoever ends up buying the property will also consider buying the business.

Sarre has been eating at Harmony Lunch for over 30 years and tells 570 News he remembers when Bruce’s father was behind the grill. “Bruce’s dad use to make 700 to 800 hamburgers on a Saturday morning for Epton. He’d wrap them up and bring them over to the workers in coolers.”

Depending on what happens with the sale of the property, the Marks plan to somehow serve up their specialties on a smaller scale.
