Over 140 charges laid in ‘Commerical Motor Vehicle Blitz’: police

Over 140 charges were laid last week as OPP and Waterloo Regional Police conducted their annual Commercial Motor Vehicle Blitz at the Kitchener Auditorium.

Officers from the Ministry of Transportation and Ministry of Finance were also present for the massive vehicle inspection.

The goal of the ‘blitz’ is to ensure our roads are safe and help prevent any serious collisions that could be caused by defective vehicle equipment.

Police say through their blitz, 162 vehicles were inspected with 70 taken out of service. In total, 145 charges were laid and 24 sets of license plates were removed.

They add that the Ministry of Finance also inspected 111 vehicles– issuing 4 charges and conducting 4 tobacco seizures.
