SIU investigating after man killed in double-shooting Sunday

The Special Investigations Unit has been called in following a double-shooting Sunday morning that claimed the life of one man.

According to the SIU, police were called to the area of Dundas and Bloor just before 6 a.m. Sunday morning amid reports of a possible shooting at 55 Howard Park Avenue. When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman at that address. At that time, the man suffered a firearm injury. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The woman suffered a gunshot wound to the leg and was transported to hospital in serious condition.

Paramedics confirmed a male victim was shot in the upper torso was absent vital signs when they arrived on scene.

SIU spokesperson Jason Gennaro would not say who fired the fatal shot or if the victim fired upon police but they did confirm that shots were fired after police arrived on the scene. They have requested anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
