Wilson closed from Fairway to Kingsway for six weeks

A new closure takes effect in Kitchener starting early Monday morning for LRT construction.

Lauren McGirr with GrandLinq says Wilson Avenue will be closed from Fairway to Kingsway on July 25th for approximately six weeks.

“Wilson from Fairway to Kingsway will close early Monday morning sometime between 3 a.m. and 6 a.m. The closure will be in effect as LRT crews install tracks, curbs, sidewalks and asphalt on Wilson.”

McGirr says even as the closure is in place, you will still be able to get to Fairview to get your back to school shopping done.

“Access to Fairview Park Mall and to Shoppers Drug Mart off of Wilson will remain open from Fairway during this time. Access to Wilson will be maintained by using Weber to Franklin to Wilson.”

McGirr adds that there is some good news for motorists in the area.

“Work is progressing really well on Courtland. We’re working in the area from Block Line to Manitou and have already completed work on the east side of the road. As planned, we will be re-instating two-way traffic on Courtland by Friday evening. From there, we will continue to work on the west side of the road to install the LRT tracks and some other final tasks before we will re-build the rest of Courtland on that side of the road.”

McGirr says pedestrian access will be maintained around the work zone.
