Fire ban issued in Waterloo Region’s townships

That major wheat field fire at Fischer-Hallman and New Dundee Road on Tuesday has fire officials re-instating open burn bans.
The Townships of North Dumfries, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich have re-instated the open air fire ban effective immediately.
They blame the continuing hot and dry conditions.
Fire officials add that wheat fire is a reminder of “how rapidly a fire can spread and the need for extreme caution under these conditions.”
