National Basketball League of Canada coming to Kitchener

A big announcement for local basketball fans today as the National Basketball League of Canada is officially starting a Kitchener-Waterloo team.

The NBL Board of Governors voted unanimously yesterday to accept the application of the new ownership group, comprised of majority shareholder Ball Construction and minority shareholders Innosoft Canada and Leon Martin, a local entrepreneur.

The team will begin its first season on December 26 of this year, and is hopeful that they will be able to play at The Aud.

Everyone involved, including local mayors Berry Vrbanovic and Dave Jaworsky are very excited for the future, and are even asking the public to get involved.

The NBL has launched a new website, asking the public’s help in naming their new local team, and are offering two free two-season passes to the winner.
