Suspect identified in fatal Kitchener shooting

Waterloo Regional Police have made an arrest after a deadly shooting in Kitchener.
29-year-old Christopher Birch of Kitchener faces multiple charges including first-degree murder.
Friday night police found 33-year-old Brandon Makins dead on Greendale Crescent, in the Chicopee area.
“These violent incidents cause anxiety within our community”, said Bryan Larkin, Chief of Police in a release. “I am very proud of our members for their hard work, dedication and commitment to restore a sense of calm. Our appreciation and thank to Durham Regional Police for their assistance and partnership”.
Police say homicide investigators will continue to work in the Chicopee area and Huron Road area over the next few days.
This is the third homicide in Waterloo Region this year.
