The 11th annual Hot Shots Street Hockey tournament takes place today at the Aud

Just because there’s nothing on the ice at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium doesn’t mean they won’t be hosting any hockey this summer.

The 11th annual Hot Shots Street Hockey Tournament is taking place at the Aud starting at 8:30 a.m.

There’s 57 teams taking place in the event and all funds raised will give kids in our community a chance to go to camp.

Sarah Murphy is the Supervisor of Community Awareness and Engagement Family and Children Services of Waterloo Region and she tells us there’s a silent auction this year and it’s completely stacked.

“We have an amazing silent auction that’s over 13-thousand dollars worth of items, says Murphy, “There’s a VIA rail pass for five-hundred dollars, WestJet tickets to anywhere and a whole bunch of memoriabilia including some from Minnesota Wild forward Zach Parise, Kitchener Rangers forward Jeremy Bracco and a signed jersey from Jonathan Bernier of the Toronto Maple Leafs.”

This is a rain or shine event so you should come to the Aud prepared with an umbrella just to be safe.
