Officials estimate $150,000 worth of damage after St. Jacobs fire

Damage is estimated at $150,000 after a fire at the St. Jacobs Farmers’ Market.

Officials say around 60 firefighters were called to Peddler’s Village around 1:30 yesterday afternoon to respond to the blaze.

The fire was mainly contained to Peddler’s and did not spread to the attached stockyards building– but up to 80 vendors were affected.

Fire Prevention Officer Dennis Aldous says there were no injuries as a result of the fire and inspectors determined that the probable cause was related to roof repairs being done with a torch.
