King and Victoria transit hub open house tonight

It’s a chance for you to have your say about what could be included at the transit hub on King Street and Victoria.

Regional Planning Commissioner Rob Horne says the open house is to update you on decisions made by regional council.

“Conceptual designs will show what the hub might look like in the future and those decisions are really to proceed to develop the hub but at the same time to be looking for senior government funding.”

The final form of development is not yet known but Horne expects an extensive call for proposals will take place over the next year or two but tonight’s open house will give you an idea on what could be built as a final project.

The new transit hub will have connections to VIA and Go train services.

“The hub itself is really meant to connect VIA and Go Train services and the new ION system, Grand River Transit buses, taxis and to help people bike and walk.”

The open house is taking place between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at 150 Frederick Street in Kitchener.
