FYI: 2016 road construction in Waterloo Region

If you are trying to get around the roadwork and LRT construction in Waterloo Region, below is an updated list of ongoing construction projects and closures.

ION Construction in Waterloo

 

Davenport/Northfield will close July 27 for paving and curbs for approximately one week. The detour during this work is Bridge to Frobisher to Northland to King.

The intersection of John at King is expected to closed on June 29 for approximately four weeks

The intersection of King and Allen will close on or about June 20 for approximately 11 weeks

King closed from Erb to William until approximately late November.

The southbound on ramp from Northfield to Hwy 85 is closed until approximately mid-November. The north and south off ramps from Hwy 85 to Northfield will be closed until late 2016.

The intersection of Caroline at Erb will be closed until mid-September. Please note detours will be in place from King to University to Westmount and from Erb to Regina to William. Motorists can access the Waterloo Town Square North lot via Caroline.

 

ION Construction in Kitchener

 

Frederick, between Duke and Charles, will close July 27 for underground utility work. This will require a full closure of the King/Frederick intersection until approximately early-October as well as a full closure of the Frederick/Duke intersection until approximately early-November. The detour during this work is Courtland to Queen to Weber.

King Street from Victoria to Moore was closed on June 8 for work on the King Street Grade Separation. The closure will be in place for approximately 18 months. The area is closed to all traffic which includes pedestrian and cyclists. As part of the work, Waterloo Street is also closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

Hayward at the train tracks will be closed until late-November. Please note that fencing will be installed across the tracks to close the railway crossing to vehicles, pedestrians and cyclist. Local traffic will be maintained on Hayward up to the railway crossing. Motorists can detour using Block Line to Lennox Lewis to access businesses in the area.

Moore at King will remain closed until mid-October.

Francis from King to Duke will remain closed until late-August. Note that access to Bell Line will be available through Weber.

The intersection of Duke at Francis is expected to be closed until late in August.

Francis at King will be closed until approximately late-August.

 

Below is a complete list of ongoing construction projects in Waterloo Region.

 

In Kitchener:

Pandora Ave will be closed between East Ave and Melrose Ave staring June 27 for approximately 3 months.

 

Road Work Projects in Waterloo:

Lanes reduced along Erb at Westmount for approximately 4 months. Pedestrian traffic will be maintained. Eastbound through traffic to detour along Wesmount Rd, University Ave and King Street.

 

Road Work Projects in Cambridge:

 

Lanes reduced along Bishop Street from Mary Ave to Hespeler Rd until August 1. Two-way traffic will be maintained. Lanes will also be reduced along Bishop between Concession and Eleanor until August 1.

Lanes reduced along Cedar from West City of Cambridge limit to Berkley road until November. Osborne Street will also be closed at Cedar until May 18. There will be no access to/from Cedar during construction. Two-way traffic will be maintained.

Clyde Rd closed from east of Franklin to Bluerock Cres and west Franklin Boulevard to Mill until early September. Traffic can detouring using Savage
