Meeting on proposed Cambridge multiplex to be held Monday night

The contentious recreation multiplex being pitched for Cambridge is front and centre again tonight.

A special council meeting is planned at the Hespeler Arena to allow councillors to review the concept plans from the Multiplex Task Force.

Those plans were drawn up following public meetings and online comments.

However, the proposed location – on Conestoga College lands – has met with some push back with opponents who argue it is too far out of the way.

They want it to be more centralized.

Tonight, councillors will be asked to delay finalizing a land lease agreement with the college until September to allow for further public input on a location.

Mayor Doug Craig says there’s also the matter of finances and the longer this debate drags on the cost will continue to rise.

Monday’s meeting gets underway at 7 o’clock in the Beehive Hall.
