2 shot near route of Kentucky Derby Festival Pegasus Parade

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Louisville police say two people have been shot near the route of the Kentucky Derby Festival’s Pegasus Parade.

Police spokeswoman Alicia Smiley says both people were taken to a hospital with injuries that didn’t appear to be life-threatening. She did not have ages or other identifying information about the victims.

Smiley said the shooting occurred shortly after 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the area of Fourth Street and Broadway, a main intersection in downtown Louisville that is along the parade route. The parade began at 5 p.m., and people were lining the streets to watch.
