Just over three months to go until the Rio Olympics.
The Olympic torch has arrived there and excitement is starting to build for athletes from Waterloo Region.
Kitchener boxer Mandy Bujold will be participating in her first Olympics this August: “…It’s a little surreal, I’d say, but definitely exciting.”
Bujold tells 570 News, given it’s the Olympics, there are a few more demands placed on the athletes for interviews and promotional appearances.
“You keep enough time for your training, but it’s still important to go out there and spread the word about what you’re doing and try to get people excited about the Olympics as well.”
Bujold is off to France early next week for a training camp, then it’s off to Kazakhstan for the Women’s World Boxing Championships in Kazakhstan. The competition starts May 19th.
