As warm weather arrives in Waterloo Region, so does gardening season

It’s time to put away your parkas and pull out your pruning shears. Warm weather means the start of planting and gardening season.

However, Perry Grobe with Grobe’s Nursery and Garden centres says now is a great time to start preparing your lawn and gardens for spring and summer plants and vegetables.

“Pansies, which will take frost, can be planted any time now along with cold season vegetable crops such as peas and radishes.”

Grobe also has some advice for a great looking lawn.

“Any over seeding of the lawn can be done soon and you should be feeding your lawn so it is growing and healthy prior to any on slot of heat.”

He also warns eager gardeners to hold off planting tomatoes and any plants or flowers that cannot take a late frost.
