Man charged with impaired driving after serious crash in Cambridge

It’s amazing no one was hurt.

Waterloo Regional Police are investigating after a car travelling along Water Street in Cambridge late Monday afternoon ran a red light at Main and was struck by another vehicle.

Police say the car then proceeded to strike a building, drove up onto a sidewalk and struck a bench and several trees.

They say a pedestrian also was narrowly missed.

Police say the car then went back onto the road and struck five parked vehicles before finally coming to rest.

Police say a 63-year-old Cambridge man faces charges of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and impaired driving.

The crash, around 5:30, closed Main Street between Water and Ainslie, until well into the night.
