New York City officials decide it’s too cold for ice fest

By The Associated Press

NEW YORK, N.Y. – It’s too cold in New York City for the annual Central Park Ice Festival.

The Central Park Conservancy says Saturday’s event has been cancelled.

The National Weather Service predicts temperatures in the teens on Saturday for New York. But wind chills could drop to between zero and minus-10, and wind gusts could reach around 44 mph.

The free event was to feature ice-carving artists and music.

Last month, Central Park’s free winter sports day called Winter Jam was cancelled due to a major snowstorm.
