Global design company, Stantec relocates to David Johnston Technology Park

Stantec has moved into a new location in Waterloo Region.

The company has been located on Frederick Street in Kitchener for the last thirteen years.

Stantec’s Waterloo office leader Kevin Fergin tells 570 news why the move is significant.

“Being in a space that is more conducive to the collaborative design work that we do is only going to enhance our ability to deliver top notch services to our clients. He says, certainly being in the David Johnston Technology Park puts us right in the heart of the the technology hub where we have industry partners. Essentially it gives us a foothold in an area where there is a lot of energy, a good vibe and an opportunity for us to provide our services to many of these companies and their business associates.”

It also gives them a competive advantage by being so close to the talent pool that is the University of Waterloo.

Fergin says “Many of our practitioners in the planning, architecture, engineering and environemental sciences are graduates of the University of Waterloo and is no doubt one of the finest institutions in our country and in North America.”

Ferkin adds what else the building has to offer to employees of the Waterloo office.

“The work stations that we have are very functional, they allow for collaboration but at the same time provide a level of privacy for the individuals. We have an amazing cafe with a lot of natural light that comes in as well as appliances available for our staff to use. We plan to have food service providers come into the office so staff can eat on-site and of course being in proximity of the new LRT system coming in.”

Stantec is currently working on many projects within Waterloo Region including:

park rehabilitation at the Henry Sturm and Sandrock Greenways in Kitchener’s Filsinger Park, indoor artificial turf design and replacement at RIM Park in Waterloo, nine roundabouts and traffic flow improvements on Franklin Boulevard in Cambridge and the reconstruction of the Greenbrook Water Treatment Plant in Kitchener.
