Major LRT work on King Street in Uptown Waterloo begins today

A portion of King Street is closing down today in Uptown Waterloo between Erb Street and William Street for up to 9 months.

It’s to allow for extensive work on the LRT in that area.

Avril Fisken with GrandLinq says business will be open throughout construction with access to parking in the area.

“What is really important to note is that the businesses will be open throughout that time, pedestrians will be able to access those businesses, and all the parking lots in the area will be fully accessible.”

Uptown Waterloo will be accessible from Caroline and Regina.

Fisken says the long term closure will help expedite the work so by the time King is reopened in late November, tracks will be laid, stops will be up and the area will be ready for the ION.
