Team Canada looking for second win at the U-18 Women’s Championships

Team Canada is off to a good start at the World Under 18 Women’s Championships in St. Catharines.

They defeated Russia 5-2 getting performances from all four lines.

Stephanie Neatby stopped 16 of 18 shots in the win.

Head Coach Lisa Haley tells 570 News that their next opponent the Czech Republic has a similar style to the Russians.

“In pre-scouting, both Russia and the Czech Republic play similar styles. We had a great dry run against Russia in terms of what we’ll see against the Czech Republic tonight. We feel pretty comfortable with what to expect from them. It will be a tight checking game and they’re won’t be a lot of space and they will play really well defensively and we will have to be patient to find our chances. I think the bigger focus from us is to be able to string some consecutive performances that are at a consistently high level.”

Team Canada is back in action tonight against the Czech Republic. Game time is 7:30 and you can stream it live right here.
