U of W named #1 for employable grads in Canada

Looking for a job? Well here’s some good news if you’re a University of Waterloo student.

The UK firm, Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) puts the university of Waterloo at 25th in the world when it comes to employable grads and in Canada it’s number one.

Associate Vice-President Communications and Public Affairs University of Waterloo, Ellen Rethore says that their students are getting co-op experience and then full time work with some of the worlds biggest companies.

“Fairfax Financial, Apple, Google, Toyota, Disney…they get out there and have this rich, real world experience and then bring that back to the classroom.”

The ranking scores universities in five categories: employer reputation, alumni outcomes, partnerships with employers, employers’ presence on campus and graduate employment rate.

Waterloo rates third overall in the world in the partnerships with employers category, after Stanford and MIT.

More than 6,300 employers hire Waterloo co-op students in more than 60 countries.

Earlier this year, QS ranked Waterloo 20th in the world in Mathematics, 24th for Computer Science and 48th in the world for Geography.
