The One Home Campaign is a group of students at the University of Waterloo looking for Waterloo Region’s help on fundraising to help Syrian refugees.

Head of the marketing team for One Home Campaign Laura Seyers tells 570 News “Basically throughout the semester we had the opportunity to create a social awareness campaign that did some good for the community and the world around us. Our class as well as myself chose to come up with the One Home Campaign. We are working to support and provide aid to Syrian refugees and surrounding countries.”

The University of Waterloo will help raise awareness about the needs of the refugees around the world but also the ones that are coming to Waterloo Region.

One Home Campaign are working with two non-profit organizations Hekaia and International Rescue Committee.

Hekaia specializes in offering Syrian refugees in Turkey the training and opportunity to create handmade items and sell them to raise money to support themselves.

The International Rescue Committee focuses on providing for the fundamental needs of Syrian Refugees, supplying such items as clean water, food, healthcare, along with other forms of aid support.

One Home Campaign is holding an event at 11am on Monday at the University of Waterloo.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will release the full details of Syrian refugees coming to Canada on Tuesday.
