Erie hands Rangers second regulation loss of the season

It was the Dylan Strome show at The Aud on Sunday night as number-two ranked Erie defeated in the top ranked Kitchener Rangers 5-2 in front of a crowd of over 7,000.

The Arizona Coyotes draft pick had two goals and two assists. Three of Erie’s goals were scored on the power play.

It marks only the second time Kitchener has lost in regulation this season.

Rangers Head Coach Mike Van Ryn was still happy with the effort of his team: “…I think chances wise, we definitely generated enough to win the game. You know the bottom line was, they only needed a few to score their five…We need a lot of chances to score three or two.”

“Five on five…I thought we were a good team. Just some bad penalties there.” added Van Ryn.

Despite the loss, it was a special night for Rangers rookie Elijah Roberts, who scored his first OHL goal: “Scoring that first goal is a moment I’ll never forget and something I’ll remember for the rest of my life.”

The other Kitchener goal was scored by Brandon Robinson, his ninth of the season.

Kitchener plays in London on Friday. 570 News has the pre-game show at 7pm.
