Wrongway driver causes Gardiner Expressway crash that injures three

TORONTO – Police say a vehicle travelling the wrongway on Toronto’s Gardiner Expressway caused a pileup Saturday night that sent three people to hospital.

The crash in the westbound lanes (between Kipling and Islington Avenues) involved at least six vehicles, one of which ended up on its roof.

Several people had to be freed from their smashed vehicles.

Paramedics say one person was seriously injured, while two others suffered minor injuries.

The accident remains under investigation, and no other details have been released at this time.
