ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – The latest in the shooting of an Albuquerque police officer, who was critically wounded (all times local):

2:30 p.m.

A police union has identified the officer shot multiple times Wednesday as Dan Webster.

Albuquerque Police Officers Association President Stephanie Lopez said Thursday that Webster remains in “critical but somewhat stable condition” and has already gone through a number of surgeries. She says more surgeries will be needed soon.

The eight-year veteran officer underwent surgery Wednesday night.

Lopez declined to give more details on the officer’s condition.

Authorities say 34-year-old Davon Lymon shot Webster during a traffic stop late Wednesday. Lymon was later arrested and now is facing federal weapons violation charges.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Lymon or indicate when he will appear in court.

Federal prosecutors have charged an Albuquerque man with weapons violations after he was accused of shooting and critically wounding a police officer.

The federal criminal complaint filed Thursday charges 34-year-old Davon Lymon with being a felon in illegal possession of a firearm. It comes after an Albuquerque officer was shot during a traffic stop late Wednesday.

The complaint says Lymon was prohibited from having guns or ammunition because of previous felony convictions in New Mexico courts. It says a pistol was found in a vacant lot near where Lymon ran after the shooting.

Online court records don’t list an attorney for Lymon or indicate when he will appear in court.

The officer remains hospitalized in critical but stable condition following surgery. His name hasn’t been released.

Court records show that a suspect arrested in the shooting of an Albuquerque, New Mexico, police officer has a lengthy criminal record including a voluntary manslaughter conviction.

Records show that 34-year-old Davon Lymon pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and aggravated battery in 2002. He also pleaded guilty to fraud and forgery the year before.

Police identified Lymon in a tweet early Thursday as the man they suspect shot an eight-year veteran officer multiple times Wednesday. Authorities say the officer, whose name has not been released, underwent surgery Wednesday night and is in critical but stable condition.

Online court records show that Lymon also faced aggravated battery and kidnapping charges last year but those cases were dismissed.

It’s not immediately clear whether Lymon has an attorney.
