570 News announces new Kitchener Rangers broadcast team

Mike and Mike are reuniting for Kitchener Rangers broadcasts on 570 News this season.

Mike Farwell and former Rangers goalie Mike Torchia were announced as the new team on Thursday morning.

Farwell is taking over play by play for Don Cameron, who decided to step aside earlier this summer. Torchia will handle the colour duties.

Farwell and Torchia previously worked together, doing Rangers games on Rogers TV for five seasons.

“This is an absolute thrill for me, of that there is no question. I’m excited, but honestly after all the years covering this league I’m extremely nervous because you’re following in the footsteps of a broadcasting legend (Don Cameron) and that’s a pretty tall order for a short guy.” said Farwell.

“I love his analysis (Torchia), so I think fans are really going to like what he brings to the game, what he brings to the game…Over and above that we have a great rapport, we get along together off the air and hopefully that will translate on the air and we’re going to have a lot of fun on the broadcasts.”

“…I think they’re a great team, I think they have good chemistry and they should be a lot of fun.” said Mike Collins, General Manager of the Rogers Kitchener Radio Group.

Farwell and Torchia will both be on 570’s Eric Drozd Show at 12:05pm today.
