What’s open/closed this long weekend

The long weekend is here, with Monday being the Civic Holiday.

That being said, it is not a statutory holiday, meaning many businesses will be open.

Among them is Waterloo Region’s big malls; Cambridge Centre, Fairview Park and Conestoga, will be open for business on Monday.

Outlets of the Beer Stores and the LCBO will be open, but hours may be revised.

Grand River Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule for the day and there will be normal garbage, blue box and green bin pick up.

This is similar to a Stat holiday in one respect: you can still save money if you need to do laundry or operate your dishwasher. Hydro is offering off peak pricing during the entire day.

Most government offices, however, will be closed.
