Police charge Guelph man after a series of break and enters in the city’s south end

Guelph police say they’ve charged a 25-year-old man after a series of break and enters in the city’s south end.

While the man was being placed under arrest, police saw smoke billowing out of one of the homes the male had broken into.

Damage was contained to one room, Guelph Fire investigated and said the fire was deliberately set.

Four other homes were damaged during the break ins in the area of Reid Court.

The extent of the damage is still unknown.

The man is expected to appear in court today.

He is charged with one count of attempt break and enter, one count of break and enter and commit mischief, one count of break and enter and commit arson and three counts of break and enter with intent.
